| Petersburg - for a United States Air Force observed SAREX (search and rescue exercise) The Air Force gives an evaluation every two years on how effective a Wing handles an emergency services mission. The simulated mission West Virginia Wing was given was to search for crew members of a C-130 aircraft that bailout because of a fire inside the aircraft. Air and Ground teams had to use coordinates given by the Incident Commander, and with use of emergency locator transmitters locate the position of the crew. The Wing also performed a task in Homeland Security. |
